What are the likely questions in an interview for receptionist?
Asked by Stephanie x
Tomorrow I have an interview for a receptionist at a spa. Does anyone know what they are likely to ask? Also, what could I ask them? Thanks in advance!

A Spa is a service environment where you will be the first and last impression that a customer will receive. The main concern of the hiring manager would be your customer service skills, attitude when it comes to working people in a fast pace environment, and your clerical abilities. Some questions that you may be asked would be. Tell us a little bit about yourself Why are you interested in the position What are some of your strengths What does customer service mean to you Know that you should also ask questions during the interview so do as much research as possible on the spa and have some questions written down. Sample questions: Is this a new position? If no Ask why the other person left? What would your expectations be of the person you hire for this position? What is the work environment like? Can you describe a normal day?

They will want to know - - About your previous jobs - What previous receptionist exp you have - Can you use a computer/type? - why did you leave your last job - give an example when you have worked to a deadline/ as part of a team/ on your own initiative/handled a difficult customer (try to think of an example for each) - do you mind doing overtime? you could ask them - how many people work for the company? Are there promotion opportunites later on as you are willing to learn new things as well. When can you start if you get the job? Do they have a pension scheme? Try not to discuss how much annual leave and pay you'll get!! Wait till you're offered the job then ask those things as you can always turn it down remember!!! GOOD LUCK

You are mainly get questions based on your application and your replies to questions - Try and remember what you said on your application and how you can expand or give other similar examples about your relevant experience or knowledge. You might be tested on your listening skills and customer service - whether you are friendly and helpful to the customers (and the team). What have you learn from your experiences or mistakes? An indication that you take questioning approach to give or get feedback to and from customers and others. You should mainly focus on people skills and organising specific events: You say ... :Tell me about how you developed a rapport with the customer? Tell me how you dealt with a difficult customer? How you deal with aggressive or threatening behaviours? etc. etc. I hope you find this helpful. Good luck with your interview.

They will ask you have you ever been a receptionist/secretary before. They will go over all of the qualifications....and ask you if you're capable of completing tasks such as answering the phone, operating a switchboard, running errands, filing, and things like that. They will also want to know your typing speed and what experience you have with computer software programs such as microsoft works, word, excel, powerpoint, and using spreadsheets and things of that nature. You could ask them whatever you feel they haven't covered in the interview....good luck!
