I hate my office dress code. The dress code pretty much is written like this, "if you are in anyway more attractive than the older female employees then you will get a talking to..." I got talked to for wearing a short sleeved blouse, when everyone else was wearing a sun dress... SO! With that in mind I wear the same pair of black pants every single day and I wear one of five different colored long sleeve cotton shirts. I am a robot.

I've been working in an office for a long time so I had time to accumulate a lot of dress pants, skirts and shirts. When I find something that fits me perfectly I will buy 3 or 4 the same but a different color. You need a good suit, whether it's a skirt suit or a pant suit, this you will keep for super special meetings. I like to keep my pants neutral, black, grey, taupe and I play with colors with my tops. A pastel shirt goes very well with a black or grey pant. I love pin stripes pants and pin strips jacket BUT try not too look too matchy matchy, don't wear the pin stripes jacket with the pin stipes pant. When you shop make sure you can mix match your top and bottom. I am a big fan of A shape skirt...I have at least 25 of them! in all colors and print. I like them cause you can wear them with a t-shirt for a casual look and you can wear them with a shirt and a jacket for a more professional look.
Have a good time shopping!

wait till you know you have the job and then I would suggest at least 10 interchangeable shirts and pants with a couple of nice jackets. Always have one really nice skirt or pant suit that you can use on your interview. Consignment stores are great for business clothes you can get name brand clothes for a fraction of the price. Good Luck on your interview!
