What would be a reasonable rate for this particular babysitting job?
Asked by LoveSwept♄
I started a babysitting job called Night Time Nanny. Im just not sure what to charge. I was thinking charge a certain amount per child per hour. Most of the kids will be younger I havent babysit in a while and not sure what a reasonable rate would be? Also I was thinking to include a bit of a gas charge if a few miles away. the one child is under 7 months and the other is 4 yrs but has down syndrome.

One of my friends hired a nanny for her child..child is about oh, 6 mos old or so..seeing she had to go back to work so the nanny comes over 3 days a week. This Nanny charges $15 p/hour with all things provided by the parent, diapers, wipes, food etc. That is for a newborn. I think also if you market yourself as a 'Nanny' rather than a 'Babysitter', you'll be apt to get more money per hour. I think people tend to view a 'Nanny' as doing more than a 'babysitter'. If it were me, I'd also write myself out a little business plan, i.e., that included things I would do like and things NOT do, like administer medications or give baths for example. Bath giving can be a bit awkward..all you need is for the kid to say "Mommy..so and so washed me THERE and it felt funny"..and then you're screwed. And med giving, well God forbid the kid has an allergic reaction to it. But bringing the kid in your car to a parent approved movie or going out for ice cream is a different story (I think). Just my thoughts...
