Asked by Roomi
But i really dont know how to go about doing this. I know that i apply online but as much as i have seen they never give you a call back...what are we suppose to do?...send our application and then call HR to check its status over and over again?...what is the best thing to do to receive a call for an intervew
also, do i need a cover letter for a teller's position at a bank?
Thank you
I already have cash handling experience......i worked as a cashier for 6 months and then worked in an office for 2 years

Hi Rimi -
I would start by getting some cash handling experience at a less responsible job - like in a retail store. This is helpful but not necessary. Make friends with someone at the bank - one way is by doing a school project about the bank and interviewing a staff member or two about your project. Put together a great cover letter - Monster.com has great samples. Good luck.

Apply... then call them in a week to check the status of your application. Call a few days after that if you don't hear back. You can also call the branch you want to work at to let them know your application is in the system (or stop by to see the person in charge of that bank).

IT'S BETTER IF YOU CALL FIRST THEN TRY TO FIX AN APPOINTMENT THEN AFTER THAT YOU GO IN PERSON TO THE INTERVIEW....THERY SHOULD GIVR YOU A COVER LETTER,JUST GO WITH YOUR RECENT RESUME & THAT'S ALL

Hi,
Make your application online, usually one of their HR reps will call you back and ask you 3-4 questions.
If you are successful with these questions they will ask you for a suitable time to have a telephone interview, this interview will then establish a face to face.
If however the post is local to you the bank will probably ask you to come in for a face to face interview rather than a telephone one. Sometimes its a central/head office that deals with recruitment and telephone interviews sort out the geniune candidates etc...
The questions usually asked are based on customer service experience, type of person you are and what you want from the post etc...
I would recommend that you submit a covering letter with your cv so that you can state why you are applying and what experience you have.
Good luck!

What do you mean we?
You go straight to the bank you want to work for and ask for the manager or person in charge and say that you are interested in applying for a teller position and would like to know how to apply and if the only way to apply is online then just wait.
