Granite Construction, with 2004 revenues of $2.1 billion, is one of the largest builders of roads, dams, bridges and other infrastructure-related projects in the country. Granite is a also a major producer of rock, sand, gravel, asphalt and other road building and construction materials. Granite employs over 6,000 people nationwide and was named by Fortune as one of the nation's 100 Best Employers in 2004 and 2005.
Founded in 1922, Granite is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol GVA. Based in Watsonville, California, the company is organized into two principal business segments, the Branch Division and the Heavy Construction Division.
