In 1994, the inventors, frustrated with their lack of choices for clean, potable water at home, decided there had to be a better solution to the growing problems with water quality. Keeping the environment in mind, they were aware that their most convenient solution, bottled water, was not only expensive, but also contributed to the issue of plastic waste. After forming a research and development company, they quickly learned that some bottled water samples were actually no better in quality than the tap water they tried to substitute in the first place. They focused their efforts on finding a solution that was not only comprehensive in cleaning potable water but would also be affordable to the average household. They found that back then, in the mid 1990's, comprehensive water filter solutions were not available to consumers.

Even today, very few water filter technologies have come to the market. After years of research and development, they patented the technology that produces what we now call ZeroWater.
