Dr. Watson Gailey started a practice in ophthalmology in Bloomington in 1908 to serve the community needs and to provide the finest medical and surgical eye care. Dr. Gailey was a true pioneer in the field of ophthalmology and was a nationally known specialist in this area of medicine. He traveled extensively to acquire the knowledge needed to open a clinic specially designated for eye care. In 1941 Dr. Gailey opened the Gailey Eye Clinic in Bloomington. At that time, Dr. Gailey and Dr. Frell established the sixth eye bank in the United States at the Mennonite hospital in Bloomington. Today, Gailey offers sophisticated procedures for treating eye care problems and is known and respected throughout the United States.
